St. James Township appoints John Manza as harbormaster in 3-1 vote

Supervisor Welke called a special St. James Township meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. April 24 and nominated John Manza for the position of harbormaster. A motion to appoint Manza was made by Cole and supported by Peirano; the motion carried with Cole, Peirano and Supervisor Welke voting yes and Gillespie voting no. McDonough was absent from the meeting.

The board discussed training for the new harbormaster, and it was suggested that Joe Callian assist in training Manza. No formal assignment of training duties was recorded as a motion; the discussion was noted for follow-up by township administration.

The appointment is effective immediately as recorded in the meeting minutes. The board moved on to other business and adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
