Mayor Beth Sweeney welcomed Tom Large to Mondays with the Mayor on the City of St. Augustine Beach livestream to recognize his long service to the city. "Thank you very much," Large said as the mayor introduced him.
Large and the mayor confirmed he has worked for the city for 33 years. Large described his duties as grounds foreman: "taking care of State Road, all the plazas, doing the maintenance, doing special events, Arbor Day" and supporting events such as Art in the Park. He said the work and the people he served with have made his tenure "amazing."
Asked about retirement plans, Large joked that his wife "already got a job lined up for me," and said he is looking forward to working with her. Mayor Sweeney thanked him for his years of service, noting he has kept roads clear, maintained event sites and helped make the city attractive for residents and visitors.
The mayor encouraged viewers to thank Large in the livestream comments and closed by wishing everyone a happy Fourth of July and inviting them to tune in next week.
