Edison opens The Grove boardwalk as an affordable, family-friendly evening venue

Dan Reev welcomed the crowd and introduced The Grove as "Edison's newest hippest location" at a community launch, asking attendees to applaud the evening's band and city staff who helped deliver the project.

Mayor Sam Johi said the space was designed "to make sure that our community can be brought closer together," and emphasized affordability and family-oriented programming. "We wanted to create a concept where people can relax, where people can unwind and actually enjoy themselves," the mayor said, noting the site is centrally located in the northern part of town and includes parking.

Organizers announced operational hours and scope: The Grove will host events on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. over a 10-weekend run. Attendees were invited to use seating and outdoor games provided throughout the park.

The mayor and event organizers recognized city departments that supported the project, including public works, recreation, police, fire and engineering. A number of local officials were listed as attending in remarks, among them Assembly Member Robert Carame; Commissioner Charlie Tamaro; Council President Joe Coyle; Council Vice President Robert Kentos; Council members AJ Patio, Bureau Patel and Kelly Demo; county clerk Nancy Pinkin; and school board member Ralph Ero. Police and fire leadership were also acknowledged.

Event promotions included a vendor giveaway—"Kona" shaved ice was announced as giving away 100 servings in the parking lot—and a live performance by the Beexi Boys. Music was set to resume as the evening continued.

The launch was a celebratory opening rather than a formal municipal action; no votes or policy decisions were taken at the event. Organizers said the program is intended to be family-friendly and to keep the neighborhood quiet while providing low-cost entertainment.
