Winchester School District committee reviews midyear iReady results; surveys show high student supports

The Teaching and Learning Committee of the Winchester School District met Feb. 24 and reviewed midyear iReady assessment results and recent school-climate survey findings, the district’s Director of Teaching, Learning & Early Childhood, Renee St. Hilaire, said.

St. Hilaire told the committee the midyear iReady data for reading and mathematics were presented alongside comparisons to the same point in the two prior years to show student progress. She also summarized recent climate survey responses, saying, "92% of students say that Morning Meeting ... is a great way to start their day," and that "93% of students say that they have a grown-up at school who will help them if they have a problem," citing teachers, paraeducators, administrators and social workers.

The presentation focused on progress monitoring rather than specific item-level score releases; the director reviewed trends and contextualized performance against prior years. Committee members recorded no additional agenda items or formal comments for follow-up during the session.

The short meeting, called to order by meeting facilitator Elinor Bishop at 6:03 p.m., concluded with a procedural motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Joseph Santoro, seconded by Christine Rylander, and passed 3-0. The meeting ended at 6:33 p.m.

The committee did not take formal votes on curriculum changes or budget items during this session. Staff indicated the midyear review will inform ongoing instructional planning and monitoring but did not state specific next steps or timelines at this meeting.
