Medical Lake commission forwards transportation master plan after map and label corrections

The Medical Lake Planning Commission voted unanimously June 25 to recommend the updated Transportation Master Plan to city council after staff corrected labeling errors and replacement pages in the packet.

Staff explained the major edits were typographical fixes, corrected bus-route labels and replacement pages addressing earlier math and labeling errors. "He changed that to bus 62 from Medical Lake," staff said when describing a correction to the transit labeling, and the presenter said the southern UGA graphic had been relabeled "southern development area" to avoid implying a firm expansion of the urban growth area.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about bicycle facilities, which staff described as on-street bicycle lanes, multi-use trails or bicycle-specific trails and parking. "That means it could be a bicycle lane or a multi-use trail," staff said, adding the plan uses the term broadly to encompass several facility types.

With those clarifications and no substantive objections, the commission moved, seconded and voted to forward the transportation master plan to council for review and adoption consideration.

Next steps: staff will transmit the commission's recommendation packet to city council; replacement pages and corrected graphics will accompany the plan when it goes to council.
