Washington Unified board adopts 2026–27 LCAPs and the 2026–27 budget

The Washington Unified School District board on June 25 approved its 2026–27 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for both the district and Washington Middle College High School, along with the related federal addendum necessary to pursue Title funding and the district’s 2026–27 adopted budget.

Staff told trustees the public hearing required by Education Code 52062(b)(1) occurred at the board’s June 11 meeting and that Yolo County Office of Education feedback was largely positive. Presenters summarized the changes since the hearing — the addition of schools identified for equity multiplier funds, inclusion of 2023 dashboard indicators and the insertion of Learning Recovery Education Block Grant (LREBG) details and metrics where funds are allocated. "The feedback was very positive noting that the annual reflections and goal analysis sections were particularly strong," staff said.

The district also presented its self‑assessment results for the California Dashboard local indicators: for basic services staff reported 0% of students without access to standards‑aligned instructional materials and described facility condition surveys; the district rated itself at the level of "initial implementation" for state academic standards while the Middle College rated "full and sustainability implementation"; parent and family engagement was described as "initial implementation" for the district, with Middle College rating higher. Staff said the district will upload these local indicator self‑assessments to the California Dashboard later this year.

Trustees voted to approve the documents by roll call, with no substantive changes to the budget since the public hearing. The consolidated application to participate in federal Title programs (I, II, III, IV) was also approved; staff indicated the estimated total entitlement for 2026–27 is about $3.6 million.

The board’s approvals allow staff to finalize submissions to the California Department of Education and proceed with program implementation tied to the LCAP goals. Staff said they will continue to monitor progress and return to the board as needed with updates and results.
