Committee reviews bill to de-annex 281 Noble’s Pond lots from Chestwood

The chair summarized House Bill 472 as a measure to de-annex 281 residential lots in Noble’s Pond from the Town of Chestwood. Noble’s Pond is an approximately 800-home community where a builder annexed lots prior to final phase completion, producing scattered annexations and inconsistent tax liabilities for adjacent properties. "As a result, there's no clear boundary separating those annexed to the town," the chair said, and described situations in which adjacent homes can have different tax liabilities.

Senator Hoffner said she lives near the area and that law enforcement supports the de-annexation because scattered town boundaries complicate responses. The chair said town council has signed a resolution approving removal of the specified lots and that HB 472 is in front of the committee to remedy the situation.
