The San Marcos Unified School District governing board approved several routine but consequential items on June 25, voting by voice and recording motions as carried.
The board adopted Year 3 of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and its local indicators as presented; the board heard no questions prior to the motion (moved by member Herrick; seconded by member Martin) and the motion carried.
The board approved the district’s 2026–27 adopted budget and the 2025–26 estimated actuals report for transmission to the San Diego County Office of Education; staff said no changes had been made since the prior presentation and that updates will be posted after the state budget as part of the 45-day report process (motion moved by member Maude; seconded by member Herrick).
Acting as the legislative body for multiple community facilities districts (CFDs), the board adopted Resolution No. 53-2526 to establish the FY 2026–27 special tax levies for numerous CFDs and improvement areas, a routine annual step required for inclusion of assessments on property tax bills (motion moved by member Martinez; seconded by member Ahmad).
The board also approved amendments that extend by one year the employment agreements for the superintendent, the deputy superintendent of educational services, the assistant superintendent of business services, and the assistant superintendent for human resources. Each amendment extended the term by one year while leaving all other terms unchanged; motions for these items were made and seconded during the meeting and each amendment carried on voice votes.
A consent agenda was approved by voice vote. The board set its next regular meeting for Aug. 13, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at the North County Regional Education Center.
