Commissioners confirmed the Juneteenth celebration for June 19 at Washington Park from noon to 8 p.m., noting live entertainment, food trucks, a kids
rea and a vendor market. The event theme is "1 city, 1 community, 1 freedom," and commissioners discussed staffing a commission table and arranging banner and tent materials.

t Walker Park Community Garden will hold a Juneberry Festival on June 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. Commissioners encouraged attendance and noted family-friendly activities.
Commissioner Corley announced a "Walk a Mile in Our Shoes" event organized by 25 Black Men of Michigan City starting at Westcott Park at 1 p.m., followed by a men's circle led by Pastors Ronnie Gaston.
A speaker representing Family Advocates urged recruitment of male mentors for school-year mentoring of youth and provided contact information for Amanda Lower ((219) 324-3385). Commissioners reiterated the commission's interest in supporting community events and youth engagement.
No formal votes accompanied the event announcements; logistics and volunteer sign-ups were left to members and staff to coordinate.
