The Fall River Licensing Board on June 26 approved a new beer-and-wine common victualers license for Highland Pizza and recorded the change of manager into the name of Alexandros Demetrius. Chair Gregory Brilliant said he had a conflict because he had represented the petitioner and stepped aside for board member Melanie Cado to preside over the item.
John Celino Loros, who identified himself for the record, described the request as a “housekeeping matter,” saying the business had been owned by a family member and the license needed to be moved into Alex’s name after a trust and state review. “It’s really just to put the license in Alex’s name,” Loros said. Board members confirmed there would be no changes to hours, the building or management practices; the applicant said Alexandros Demetrius has been acting as manager.
Board member Melanie Cado called for the motion to grant the new beer-and-wine common victualers license; a motion was seconded and the chair presiding over the item announced the motion passed. The transcript records the board’s verbal approval but does not include a roll-call vote tally in the minutes excerpt provided to the board.
The approval was recorded during the licensing board’s regular meeting at Fall River City Hall. No appeals, conditions or enforcement actions were attached to the motion on the record.
The licensing board returned to other agenda items after congratulating the applicants and wishing them luck.
