The Fall River Licensing Board on June 26 tabled a request from AutoX Group (applicant on record: Jan Vtor Xavier) for a new class-2 license at 994 Jefferson Street after staff and board members raised zoning and police background-check issues.
Staff reported that building/zoning staff visited the site and told the applicant the property is not properly zoned for selling/displaying cars on the lot; the site may only be eligible for a wholesale or online-sales designation. The applicant told the board he had discussed the site with staff and would accept a wholesale/online-sales-only license if necessary, but he had asked in the application for the ability to have vehicles on the premises.
The police department had not completed a background check before the item came up and the board expressed concern about approving a sale-of-vehicles license without police review. The board voted to table the item to the July 15, 2026 meeting so staff can confirm zoning constraints, police signoffs and whether the applicant intends to proceed as wholesale/online sales or to seek zoning relief.
The applicant was advised to speak with zoning/building staff and return with clarifying documentation; if the site cannot host cars the board signaled it would be open to approving a wholesale/online-sales license after police approval. The motion to table was carried with a planned staff follow-up.
