David and Kalista (graduation leads) summarized the timeline and tools LEAs should use to review and correct cohort and completion codes for the 2026 graduation cohort. They said preliminary graduation data are generated after LEAs finalize year‑end submissions and that the state will publish a graduation‑rate preview report on the data gateway for LEA review in late July or when available.
David told participants that LEAs will have until the October ETL window (October 7) to make updates that will count toward the finalized graduation rate; after that window the state will run final calculations and publish results in December. Kalista recommended that LEAs assign the graduation LEA user role in the data gateway (the graduation preview report requires that role) so staff can access the report and the moveit files (which sometimes arrive faster).
On updates: Kalista explained S1X records (create an enrollment in the next school year with resident status X and membership zero) for updates when the student is no longer enrolled, and historical updates (data gateway request form) when the student remains enrolled in the LEA. She emphasized planning to use the appropriate mechanism and testing the workflow in your SIS well before October.
Next steps: the state will notify LEAs when the preview report is live and provide moveit files. LEAs with cohort or completion questions were told to contact the graduation team named in the presentation for assistance.
