Carmel-by-the-Sea reports robust applicant pool for public works director; city posts city-administrator RFP after staff notice

A staff member told the meeting that the city received 28 applications for the public works director position and described that number as an "incredible volume" for a director-level role. The staff member said the planning-and-building director recruitment went live that same day and that the city is moving quickly to schedule interviews.

The staff member announced that Anna Janette had given notice and is leaving for another opportunity; staff expressed appreciation for her service and said the city will actively recruit to fill the role. The staff member also said the request for proposals for a city-administrator recruitment should be posted that day.

On another operations item, a committee member said the city is still waiting for a response from the county on a street-address matter and characterized the status as "no news is good news." The staff member also reminded the public that city offices will be closed the Friday before July 4 and promoted the Monterey County Pops event at Devendorf Park on Saturday at 2 p.m.
