Superintendent (Mr. Parapato) opened the June 18 meeting with recognitions and academic updates, naming students of the month for grades five through eight and highlighting district benchmark gains.
The superintendent named Athena (grade five), Addison (grade six), Arv (grade seven) and Olivia (grade eight) as students of the month and congratulated American Legion essay winners, naming Dorothy and Ariana Cruz among the recipients. He praised students and staff for social-emotional and academic progress as the school year closed.
On assessments, the superintendent reported district math benchmark scores increased by about 24% for students at or above grade level since the fall and district reading benchmark scores increased by about 13% for the same group. He also said reading-level assessments showed growth across grades K–8. The superintendent encouraged families to use teacher, guidance and district resources if students experience strong emotions following a recent student death that the board memorialized with a moment of silence.
What happens next: the district will publish final assessment summaries and ongoing supports for students over the summer. The superintendent's completed CSA (superintendent evaluation) was noted as part of the agenda and will appear in the record.
