Committee hears two nominees, approves minutes and adjourns

The committee opened by approving the minutes of June 17 and June 18 (motion recorded and approved by unanimous consent). The committee then considered gubernatorial and nongubernatorial appointments.

Michael Skeuse introduced himself to the committee as a lifelong Delaware resident and former Delaware secretary of agriculture and USDA official and said, if confirmed to the Thoroughbred Racing Commission, he would work to "ensure the integrity of racing" and protect horses and jockeys. The committee raised no substantive follow‑up questions.

Eric Fearwold, nominated as a trustee of the University of Delaware, summarized his background as a University of Delaware alumnus and corporate executive (former DuPont executive and CEO of companies including Nalco and IFF) and answered routine questions from senators. The chair circulated a reappointment for signatures.

At the end of the agenda the committee entertained a motion to adjourn; the motion received a second and the committee adjourned without recording votes on the bills considered that day.
