North Kingstown — The North Kingstown School Committee on June 25 handled several routine and policy actions, moving through consent agenda items, policy deletions and personnel/subcommittee adjustments.
The committee voted to seal the executive session minutes for June 25 and disclosed no votes were taken in executive session. By voice vote the committee approved its consent agenda, with B1 and B2 removed for separate consideration.
A motion carried to delete the middle‑school grading policy IKA.1 after members said the content had been integrated into the revised IKA policy. A committee member moved to approve agenda item A, which recognized graduating seniors, and the committee approved that item by voice vote.
Under new business B, the committee approved an amended motion to remove certain members from the redistricting, start‑times and transportation advisory subcommittees and specifically added Michelle Hume to the removal list (her last day with the district was noted as June 30). Members discussed scheduling for redistricting and noted no summer meetings are planned; staff said transportation representation will be added back in September when a temporary director is in place.
Item C was approved by voice vote; item D was moved to table and the motion to table carried. The committee reviewed correspondence submitted in advance and took a short recess to ensure public commenters could arrive because of a website posting typo; the meeting reconvened at 7:00 p.m. with public commenters expected.
The meeting proceeded without roll‑call vote tallies recorded in the transcript; most approvals were taken by voice vote.
