Bruceville-Eddy staff gave a multi-topic infrastructure briefing at the June 25 meeting that covered ongoing CCTV inspections of the sanitary-sewer system, a pending grant application for a new well site and the status of a planned generator purchase and installation.
Councilman Prader, who has accompanied the CCTV crew onsite, described the inspection footage as "very interesting, to say the least," and later as "dismal," saying the videos revealed numerous problems in the collection system that will require further action. Staff said the CCTV contractor is still compiling a full report and that the city will host public town-hall sessions to show the footage and explain next steps.
Separately, engineering staff reported the city intends to submit an application for Texas Water Development Board funding for a new well (a WSIG source-water project with a "shovel-ready" designation that can add competitive points). Plans were described as near-final and staff said they expect to submit required materials by the July 29 deadline; final 100% construction documents were expected shortly before submission.
On a separate procurement matter, staff said a planned generator delivery and the work to install disconnect equipment remain in flux because of parts and scheduling; city staff are pressing vendors and coordinating with electrical contractors and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) where approvals are required.
What council members asked and directed
Council asked staff to make the CCTV footage publicly viewable at a town hall to ensure transparency and to help residents understand the scope of necessary repairs. Staff agreed to publish the CCTV report and provide project schedule updates as key deliverables. Engineers will continue to refine costs and repair priorities and return to council for funding decisions as appropriate.
