Superintendent announces $10.5 million shared‑service upgrade for Midland High School athletic complex

Superintendent Dr. McDow told the Oakland Board of Education that the Borough of Kingswood and the Collingswood School District will join a shared‑service agreement to invest $10.5 million in the Midland High School athletic fields. The project will include turf fields, grass fields, lighting, a 1,500‑seat bleacher bank, a press box, sound system, restrooms, storage and concessions.

"This is going to be a really big deal for our students as well as the greater community," Dr. McDow said, describing the benefits of upgraded outdoor recreational facilities and shared access. The superintendent said the project reflects a new partnership approach to support student athletics and broader community use.

The business administrator gave a procurement update: architects and engineers would meet to prepare a public bid package, the public posting period for bids was stated as 10 days, and once a contractor is awarded the company will provide estimated start and completion dates. Board members asked for timeline details and were told more specifics will be provided once the bid package and award schedule are available.

The board voted to approve routine financial and procurement items (10.01–10.18) that included contract listings, purchase orders, and a $3,500 contract for mental‑health screening services, and to renew a multi‑year food‑service agreement.
