Beaufort County ZBOA approves two short‑term rental requests

The Beaufort County Zoning Board of Appeals approved two special‑use permits for short‑term rentals during the same meeting that produced the contested variance ruling.

Earlier in the meeting, applicant Ryan Shuhan asked the board to allow short‑term rentals at 25 Sam's Point unit 1C, saying he and his wife plan to rent to Marine families attending graduations on the nearby island and that he would manage the property. County staff recommended approval, the board moved to approve the request and signaled support.

At the end of the meeting, William and Jennifer Feifer requested a special use permit to allow short‑term rentals of their property. The Feifers described occupancy limits (four adults and four children) and said they would use JC Kia with Tide for management; county staff again recommended approval, there was no public comment, and the board approved the permit.

Both approvals were taken with routine motions and voice votes; the board closed the items with approvals and moved on to other business and adjournment.
