A commissioner moved June 25 to reschedule the commission’s Aug. 27 regular meeting from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and instead conduct a site tour of three city parks. Another commissioner seconded the motion and the commission approved it by voice vote.
Staff recommended the tour of Alga Norte, Stagecoach and Poinsettia Park as a mix of the city’s aquatic center, community center and an active park. Staff said the meeting would open in the usual meeting room, the group would board a bus for site visits, and the commission would adjourn while on the bus after completing the tour.
Commissioners raised practical concerns about walking in afternoon heat and asked whether the bus has air conditioning and whether shaded areas at stops would be available. Staff said the bus is air-conditioned, that some sites have shaded decking and indoor space at Stagecoach, and that stops would be kept brief.
The motion, moved by a commissioner and seconded by another commissioner, specified touring Alga Norte, Stagecoach and Poinsettia and was approved. The meeting materials and staff follow-up will confirm final logistics and the meeting start location.
The commission did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript; staff said they would proceed with arrangements once a consensus on date and time was confirmed.
