Finch skate park lease due at year-end; town schedules maintenance and memorial bench

The Recreation Advisory Committee heard an update on the Finch skate park on June 25, as committee members said the site's lease is due to expire at the end of the year and local stakeholders are discussing next steps.

Tom told the committee he had spoken with Kim and that Kim and Brewster — along with the school superintendent — have been in active conversations about the site. "They know that the lease is up at the end of the year," Tom said, and said stakeholders are "working towards a solution to see how that would work."

Staff also reported that a contractor began park maintenance this week and is performing trimming, painting and construction of a memorial bench requested by the committee. The work will be charged to the NOS together weekend budget and staff said they will coordinate invoicing with the town around July 1.

The committee did not vote on lease or policy direction; members said conversations are ongoing and farther decisions will follow as talks with stakeholders continue.
