Committee approves FY2027 draft budget for public display and a package of grant and budget resolutions

At its June 24 meeting the Kane County Finance & Budget Committee approved placing the fiscal year 2027 draft budget on public display and cleared a package of resolutions addressing grants, budget adjustments and contracts.

Key votes at the meeting:

- Resolution 26-819: The committee approved placing the FY2027 draft budget on public display and advancing it to the executive committee and full board. The chair said the draft was balanced at $131,618,193 as presented but cautioned projections may change.

- Resolution 26-747: Approved acceptance of a $50,000 Live Scan grant from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority to replace fingerprinting machines for the sheriff's office.

- Resolution 26-729: Approved an emergency budget adjustment to increase judiciary interpreter services reimbursement by $434,000.

- Resolution 26-728: Approved reallocation of opioid settlement funds to support the Kane County Collaborative Diversion Program and passed a technical amendment to reclassify fund codes for tracking purposes.

- Resolution 26-735: Approved an addendum to the intergovernmental juvenile-detention agreement with Rock Island County adding a transport fee ($100/hr, $150/hr on holidays).

- Resolution 26-821: Approved termination of the snow-plowing services contract with Winter Services LLC after repeated underperformance; county staff said they will rebid with a goal of having a new vendor in place before October.

All of the listed resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting. Several motions were described on the record as bookkeeping or reclassifications to improve accounting clarity.
