Richmond City Council holds informal session; several docket items continued to July 27

"Good afternoon, everyone," the Council President said as the informal meeting of the Richmond City Council was called to order and the president asked Clerk Adam Clerk to read the emergency evacuation announcement, roll call and the docket.

Adam Clerk read the chamber evacuation instructions, telling attendees: "Upon activation of the emergency alarm signal, all persons should immediately exit the building" and describing exits, stairwells and the assembly point on 9th Street between Clay and Lee Streets. After the safety announcement, Clerk Adam Clerk reported attendance: "for the record, all members are in attendance this evening with the exception of councilor Bridal and Lynch. You do have a quorum."

The clerk then read the docket. Several consent-agenda papers were retained on tonight's agenda while multiple items were continued to the council's July 27 meeting. Among those continued were Item 1 (recorded as "20 26 1 0 2"), Item 2 ("20 26 1 0 9"), Item 3 ("ordinance 20 26 1 13") and Item 4 ("ordinance 20 26 1 20"). The clerk also reported committee recommendations for approval on numerous other ordinances and resolutions listed during the reading.

On the regular agenda, the clerk noted that Item 34 ("ordinance 20 25 2 31") had been amended at the June 8 meeting and remained on tonight's agenda; Item 35 ("ordinance 20 26 0 81") was continued to July 27 per the Finance and Economic Development standing committee; Item 36 ("ordinance 20 26 0 90") had been amended earlier and was retained. The clerk closed the docket reading by confirming that several items continued from prior meetings were again being retained.

When the Council President asked whether there were any referrals of service delivery, the clerk replied, "We do not." The Council President then declared the informal session adjourned.
