Prinsburg council approves 3% pay increase for city employees; approves claims and minutes

The Prinsburg City Council on Feb. 10 approved a 3% pay increase for city employees, retroactive to Feb. 1, 2026. Councilor Dan Negen moved the pay increase and Councilor Mike Bredeck supported the motion; the minutes record the motion as carried (MSP).

At the start of the meeting Mayor Mitch Swart and councilors also handled routine business. Councilor Mike Bredeck moved to approve the regular meeting minutes from Jan. 6, 2026; Nate Marcus seconded and the motion carried (MSP). Councilor Nate Marcus moved to approve the claims presented in the amount of $9,469.33; Mayor Mitch Swart supported that motion and the minutes record it as carried (MSP). The minutes do not include a roll-call tally for these motions, only the notation "MSP."

The council’s minutes say the 3% pay increase applies to all rates and is retroactive to Feb. 1, 2026. The minutes do not specify the total budgetary impact or which departmental budgets (if any) will absorb the additional ongoing personnel costs.

The council adjourned with its next regular meeting scheduled for March 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
