Davenport council approves routine contracts, appointments and parks proclamation

At its June 24 meeting, the Davenport City Council approved several routine items on the consent agenda, including a one-year contract renewal for natural resources landscaping maintenance with Del's Landscape and Irrigation for $104,200 and multiple board reappointments.

Council reappointed George Eaton, Jeffrey Gomez and Christopher Kretz to the Historic Preservation Commission; named Christopher Meyer and Ryan Kennedy to parks advisory positions as new appointments; and reappointed Joe Hindrix and Michael Husted to the Library Board of Trustees while appointing Mary Edgar as a new trustee. The council also unanimously approved a proclamation designating July 2026 as Park and Recreation Month and July 17, 2026 as Park and Recreation Professionals Day. Interim parks director Becca Niles accepted the proclamation and thanked the council for its support.

Other consent items included a River Center contract with Venue Works and other routine administrative items; the full consent agenda passed by roll call at the meeting.

What this means: These approvals allow staff to proceed with the listed contracts and appointments; council members said they will continue oversight through normal reporting and committee processes.
