The Fond du Lac City Council on June 24 approved Resolution 9246, accepting the final plat for Hidden Valley Phase 2 on the city’s east side and clearing seven residential lots, and unanimously approved a list of alcohol beverage license renewals submitted to the council.
City Engineer Mr. Johnson told the council that the final plat conforms to the preliminary plat previously approved by the plan commission and meets subdivision standards required by state law. "There is no standard for the number of entrances and exits to a subdivision," Mr. Johnson said, adding that the developer plans three entrances and exits when the subdivision is fully built but that the current phase will open with only one.
The plat drew questions from councilmembers and members of the public who said residents had complained about traffic cut-throughs and confusion caused by a single entrance. Mr. Johnson said phasing decisions are market-driven and estimated further buildout costs at roughly three-quarters of a million dollars; he and others cautioned that building permanent roads before demand materializes could be a poor use of taxpayer funds.
Council voted to approve the plat after a motion by Mr. Mullen and a second by Miss Pratt; the motion passed unanimously. Earlier on the agenda the council approved the consent agenda (including the June 10 minutes and a claims list dated June 17) on a motion by Mr. Zimmerman with a second from Miss Mayweather, and unanimously approved a list of alcohol license renewals that staff said met state publication requirements and had no outstanding delinquent debt (motion by Mr. Mullen; second by Miss Balt).
The council closed the business portion of the meeting and moved to an input item from the police department on micromobility. The council then adjourned.
