Commission narrows CPC priorities: irrigation, bleachers and courts head list

Commissioners reviewed updated vendor quotes and began reordering the Recreation Department's CPC wants and needs list.

Staff reported quotes that included $8,000 to resod and relevel the back field at the 204 site, $14,500 to resurface the Brooks Park basketball courts and $75,000 to replace the concrete slab and rebuild the elementary‑school basketball court. The highway department supplied a $180,000 retrofit estimate to address safety issues with the White House Field bleachers.

Members agreed irrigation at Potter Memorial is the top guaranteed need for CPC funding. For the splash pad, commissioners placed the item on the priority list with an asterisk pending the consultant's final cost estimate; the chair suggested the project could be in the $300,000 ballpark based on regional examples. The commission discussed whether some lower‑cost items (for example, field resodding) could be funded from a revolving fund rather than CPC.

No final CPC submission was made; the commission asked staff to present a revised prioritized list with confirmed quotes at the next meeting and to invite Highway Department representation to discuss the bleachers retrofit.
