The Carmel Preservation Commission approved a staff recommendation to restore the north portico of the Wilkinson Hull House, including wood repair, installation of plinth blocks at the base of the columns, and painting in the documented color scheme.
A staff member read the recommendation into the record: "We approve the request to restore the portico on the North elevation of the Wilkinson Hull House, including wood restoration, the building of plinth blocks at the base of the existing columns, and painting of the structure and the color, as submitted in documentation, which appears to be white." A commissioner moved to accept the staff recommendation and the commission approved the work by voice vote.
Staff said it will send an official approval letter to the applicant and that commissioners requested that salvageable elements be stored on-site or otherwise retained so that any reversible change could be undone in the future. The commission recorded the voice vote; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
