Business manager: retiree and spouse medical claims totaled about $4.9 million in 2025–26

Joanie McIntyre, the Keystone Central School District business manager and board treasurer, reported to the board on June 24 that the district’s 2025–26 medical claims for retirees and spouses were approximately $4.9 million.

McIntyre gave a breakout: retiree member claims paid last year totaled $1,884,545; active spouse claims were $2,883,888; and one retired spouse on the plan had a claim of $100,000. “The total of… all of those claims was about $4.9 million,” McIntyre said, noting the figures mix retirees and spouses and that she would provide current-year figures at the finance meeting and in the July board packet.

The report was presented as an informational item; the board did not take a vote on the claims totals during the special meeting. McIntyre and the district’s health-care provider were thanked by the board for compiling the data.

What happens next

McIntyre said she will provide updated claims information at upcoming finance and board meetings so members can review year-to-date figures and trends ahead of future budget decisions.
