Superintendent Ms. Piazza opened her report with a moment of silence to honor Mrs. Jamie Mirhoff, a longtime Easton educator who recently died after a long battle with cancer. "Mrs. Jamie Mirhoff passed away after a long battle with cancer," Ms. Piazza said, and she described Mirhoff's years at Paxinosa and Cheston schools and the lasting impression she left on students and colleagues.
Following the condolence, Ms. Piazza presented several "profile of a graduate" recognitions. She honored Jean Mulrine, a recently retired interventionist from Tracy Elementary School, for her decades of service helping struggling readers and collaborating with teachers. The board applauded and said it would send recognition to Mulrine, who is beginning retirement travel.
John Repash, a longtime physical education teacher at March Elementary, could not attend; Ms. Piazza read a brief statement Repash sent expressing gratitude for the recognition. The board also presented a certificate to Kiela Vincent, executive director of Family Connections of Easton, Inc., praising her leadership in community programs such as Kindergarten Connections and the Stuff the Bus drive; Vincent thanked the board and highlighted partnerships with Lafayette College and Northampton Community College.
The recognitions concluded before the night's presentations.
Ending note: the board closed the Superintendent's Report and proceeded to scheduled presentations on athletics, construction and assessment data.
