Dr. Nina Ashford, the county's chief of public health services, announced a virtual community meeting for residents about a PFAS contamination incident and related health advisory.
"The county is hosting a virtual community meeting next week, Wednesday, July 1st, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., to continue informing the public and the discussion around the PFAS contamination and health advisory in the area near Great Seneca Highway and Key West Avenue," Dr. Ashford said. She said the meeting is intended for residents who could not attend a prior in-person session or who have follow-up questions.
Registration information was shared in the briefing chat and on county slides; Dr. Ashford advised residents to sign up for county email updates at montgomerycountymd.gov. The briefing also included a reminder from county health staff about elder services and an elder-abuse helpline that residents may call to report mistreatment.
Officials did not provide additional technical details or new exposure numbers during the briefing; they said the July 1 virtual meeting is intended to give residents updated information and an opportunity to ask questions of county health staff.
