Commission staff reported June 24 that the city council has formally adopted the commission’s updated design guidelines and that the final draft and updated GIS maps are posted on the city website. The building department has been notified and printed copies will be made available on request.
Lisa said the CLG (Certified Local Government) grant work is continuing: survey reports are being finalized, staff recently located a historical photo at the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum, and the commission is waiting to schedule research time at History Colorado’s research library. “We did make a trip up to Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum and did find a photo of one of our individuals in a newsletter,” Lisa said.
Staff outlined public outreach and training: the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions forum is scheduled in Minnesota in late July; a CLG webinar on community legacies and wildfire GIS mapping is set for Aug. 19; the museum and library will staff a farmers market booth July 11 through September; a tavern talk is scheduled July 11 at 4 p.m. in Howard; and the museum will host a historic bike tour on July 23 (registration via the museum website).
The commission had no public comment and then adjourned.
