The Bethany Beach Town Council voted to reaffirm Charles McMullen as the town alderman, approving a resolution that continues his two-year term.
The motion, offered and seconded during new business, passed by voice vote after several members praised McMullen’s long service. Council members noted that McMullen, who has served since Feb. 23, 2006, regularly handles parking appeals and has been “more than fair” in adjudicating those cases.
Under the town charter the alderman adjudicates actions brought under town ordinances and state law; the appointment also requires periodic reaffirmation at the state level, the council noted. The resolution was provided in full to council members but was not read aloud in its entirety.
No members requested public comment before the vote, and the motion carried. The council did not specify an effective date beyond the standard two-year term defined by the charter.
