At the Facilities Committee meeting June 24, Miss Emo provided a high-level update on bond-funded construction projects, saying turf installation on the athletic field is ahead of schedule and that work at East Union and early schematic design for Parkwood continue.
“Since this photo was taken on Friday, the end zones have been cut in, the 50-yard line emblem is in, and we have started the backfill in the surrounding area to begin work on the track and the sidewalks,” Miss Emo said. She described the turf field as “beautiful” and said the project team has started backfill and ancillary work as part of phase one; the target had been to have turf installed by July 4.
Regarding East Union, Miss Emo said crews are doing sheetrock and plumbing work in administrative and dining areas and are restoring exterior finishes. She said the design team is continuing schematic design for Parkwood and that administrators favored a courtyard-focused, U-shaped layout; the design team has been asked to make refinements before presenting floor plans.
The update was presented for information; no committee action was taken. Miss Emo invited committee members to visit the site to observe progress.
