Mr. Moore proposed forming a joint long-range planning committee with two appointees from the Board of Education and two from the county during the Facilities Committee meeting June 24, and asked the Facilities Committee to nominate two representatives from its members.
“We decided we're going to put together a long-range planning committee that would consist of, in addition to county and school staff, two appointees from the Board of Education, two appointees from the Board of County Commissioners,” Mr. Moore said. He recommended selecting two members from the Facilities Committee to serve as the Board of Education’s appointees.
Several committee members volunteered: one member said “interested,” a member identified as Matt volunteered, and another member said “I'll do it if nobody else does.” Mr. Moore reported that he spoke with Ms. Elliott, who initially indicated that the committee did not need full-board approval for the appointments; he said he would confirm that guidance.
The committee did not take formal action on the appointments at the Facilities Committee meeting; staff will confirm whether full-board approval is required.
