Belpre council unanimously approves street sweeper purchase, ODOT salt contract and several resolutions

Belpre City Council unanimously approved a package of ordinances and resolutions at its April 13 meeting, including a purchase agreement for a 2026 Schwarze A4 storm street sweeper and an ODOT salt contract required before the May 1 procurement deadline.

Council suspended its usual three‑reading rule and advanced the street sweeper measure from first reading to adoption in the same meeting. The ordinance authorizes the mayor to execute a contract with Southeastern Equipment Company to buy a 2026 Schwarze A4 storm street sweeper; all seven council members present voted aye.

Council also authorized the Safety‑Service Director to enter into a salt contract with the Ohio Department of Transportation; the resolution was moved, rule suspension was approved, and the resolution was adopted by unanimous vote. Council members said the short notice was typical when working with ODOT.

Several previously scheduled items on the agenda passed on third reading without amendment: a management agreement for the Belpre Senior Center (adopted as Resolution 2, 2026–2027), a contract with Washington Soil and Water Conservation District to provide technical stormwater management assistance (Resolution 3, 2026–2027), and a readoption of ordinance No. 20 as Section 939.04 (Ordinance 3, 2026–2027). All passed with all council members present voting aye.
