The Auburn Board of Public Works and Safety approved two major capital contracts during its meeting, awarding the WPC Auburn Sealine Storage project to Crosby Excavating for $2,699,623.50 and approving a $1,294,882 contract with Craft Water Solutions for Cedar Street water and sewer improvements.
City engineering staff presented the Cedar Street project as Phase One of water and sewer improvements and recommended acceptance of performance and payment bonds and issuance of a notice to proceed. "This has an allowable start date of October 5th and final completion date of February 15th," the city engineer said. A board member moved to approve the contract with Craft Water Solutions and to issue the notice to proceed; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Separately, water pollution staff reviewed bid tabulations prepared by the city's engineering firm and recommended awarding the WPC Auburn Sealine Storage contract to Crosby Excavating. "We recommend that the city of Auburn accept the bid from Crosby Excavating for the WPC Auburn Sealine Storage Project in the amount of $2,699,623.50," the presenter stated. The board moved to approve the award and the motion passed by voice vote.
Both awards were recorded as motions and passed without reported dissent. The board did not receive public comment on either contract during the meeting.
What comes next: Craft Water Solutions' notice to proceed was authorized, and the Cedar Street project's start and completion dates were placed on the record. For the WPC Auburn Sealine Storage project the board accepted the bid tabulations and directed standard contract execution steps; staff did not identify additional conditions in the meeting.
