Alexandria board approves Pow Wow dates on park grounds pending updated rental agreement

The Alexandria parks board voted to approve use of park grounds for the Pow Wow on Sept. 10–13, 2026, contingent on an updated rental agreement that clarifies who is responsible for trash, electricity hookups and any fees for use of green space. Discussion before the motion focused on event logistics. Board members said organizers in prior years had assumed some park support for trash pickup and power hookups; several members said the town should adopt a clearer rental agreement that sets responsibilities and deposit requirements to ensure groups clean up and restore facilities. Suggestions included a refundable deposit to ensure compliance and charging for additional infrastructure use such as large electrical needs or expanded footprint of green space.

Members asked event organizers to meet with staff and the board to draft standard rental terms. The board noted alternative indoor sites (Bob Rogers building and the community center) if event needs better vehicle access or parking. The board instructed staff to prepare or revise a rental agreement and bring it back for review before full event finalization.
