Commissioners said they will invite Hot Glasses artist Logan back in July to present examples and answer funder concerns about durability for a proposed public art installation at Main Street Landing. A commissioner said the artist is currently commissioned for a suspended glass work in Washington, D.C., and will be able to show comparable examples.
"He's willing to come and answer all of your questions and give a more in‑depth presentation," a committee member said.
Separately, staff and consultants will deliver both a streamlined cost estimate and a full historic‑restoration estimate for the former lobby; a morning meeting with consultants is scheduled and staff said the project remains within a 60‑day review window. Commissioners asked whether adjacent restrooms are functional and whether site items such as concrete and the main boat ramp would be included; staff said the ramp is likely not part of the full consultant scope but will seek clarity on site elements and potential funding buckets.
As a positive operational update, staff also reported that the Lake Davenport Sailing Club received a grant to install about 50 life jackets in roughly five loan‑station housings to improve on‑water safety; an Eagle Scout is helping construct the stations. The commission did not take formal votes on art or restoration at the meeting but scheduled the artist presentation for July and expects consultant estimates to follow for review.
The commission asked staff to confirm restroom status, the exact consultant scope, and whether any site repairs could draw from alternative funds.
