Commissioners approve consent agenda, budget amendments and personnel actions; rebid of cracked fuel tabled

The Polk County Commissioners Court approved its consent agenda, which included eight addenda with line items ranging from roughly $152.77 to $929,447.16. The court then approved personnel action forms submitted since the last meeting and authorized payment of 73 hours of accrued FLSA time for telecommunications operator Jennifer Norris at $24.48 per hour, totaling $1,787.04, as requested by the Sheriff’s Office.

The county auditor presented FY 2026 budget revisions and amendments (2026-20 and 2026-20A); the court approved the revisions by motion. The court also accepted an offer to purchase tax‑foreclosed Lots 243 and 244 in Big Ticket Lake Estates (Cause No. T25‑0039, Precinct 4), noting Big Sandy ISD had previously accepted the bid.

On procurement, the rebid for cracked‑fuel products returned only one bidder (Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions). The court also designated Polk County elected officials to serve on the Deep East Texas Council of Governments board for 2026–2027 and discussed FY2027 budget development, including recommendations to prioritize raises over adding personnel while still proposing three additional positions in high‑workload offices (treasurer office manager, JP Precinct 3 receptionist, and an additional JP4 clerk) pending documentation. Commissioners reviewed multi‑year compensation comparisons to peer counties and voted to publish elected‑official compensation with no changes for the coming year.
