At the meeting county presenters outlined a package of community initiatives and facilities designed to expand services and recreation.
Library leaders promoted 'Hit the Books,' a reading incentive in partnership with the Inland Empire 66ers that awards game tickets to young readers who complete five books and submit a librarian‑ and parent‑signed bookmark. Jeannie Glasco (CFS) introduced the county's youth‑facing services as part of broader child and family programs.
County speakers also described Perk, a new workforce training and onboarding hub with classrooms and technology for employee development; completed Phase 3 of the Santa Ana River Trail (an investment of roughly $7 million for the latest stretch with phase 4A in design and potential construction in mid‑2027); and a new mobile unit for San Bernardino Animal Care providing vaccines, microchipping and pet services to unincorporated areas.
County staff highlighted the Spark internship program: about 1,200 youth applied and 131 were selected, with 21,912 combined hours of work experience reported by participants.
These presentations were informational; they did not require a board vote but were noted as part of the meeting record.
