Planning board endorses Wareham open space and recreation plan draft and authorizes chair to sign

The Wareham Planning Board voted on June 22 to provide a formal recommendation on the town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan and authorized Chair Jane Gleason to execute any required letters or certification documents to be submitted to the state. The motion passed with four members voting in favor and one member abstaining because they had not read the document in full.

Staff briefed the board on the state’s opportunity to grant a 10‑year approval if certain additions were made to the plan; the open space committee and consultants prepared the revised plan and submitted it for review. Board members said they had read the draft and had no substantive comments, although one member asked staff to circulate the draft certification letter and to add it to the record.

The board directed staff to finalize a draft letter, circulate it to members and have the chair sign the document for submission.
