Fayetteville board approves tree‑work contract, annual community agreements and votes to apply for state climate grant

The Fayetteville Village Board authorized a series of routine agreements and operational actions after department updates and reports.

Public works reported a multi‑street crack‑sealing schedule and described an $18,000 proposal from Bartlett Tree Service to remove numerous standing dead ash trees near private backyards and the Leadyard canal right‑of‑way. The board moved to authorize contracts with Bartlett for up to $18,000 for hazardous‑tree removal and proceeded with a vote; the motion passed.

The board also approved annual agreements budgeted at the recent budget session: $55,000 to the Fayetteville Senior Center (to be renamed "Center for Active Adults" in the contract), $38,700 for the Youth and Recreation program, $2,000 to the Matilda Jocelyn Gage Foundation, and $4,500 to the Manley Historical Society. Trustees discussed minor clarifications in language (name changes and exhibit/display logistics for the historical society) before voting to approve the agreements.

Separately, trustees voted to authorize staff to submit a Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to fund a feasibility study for a geothermal HVAC system that would serve both the village hall and the fire station. Trustee Jane—who moved the motion—said the study would identify costs, potential investment tax credits, and other financing levers; Central New York planning and development and a consultant (Isabella) will assist with the July application deadline. Board members noted the application process will include several funding scenarios and that an award would still require later board approvals for implementation and financing.
