During the June 22 meeting, supervisors reviewed termination and expiration letters sent May 30 to contractors tied to an inter-county transportation/grant effort and discussed the disposition of remaining seed money dating to a 1999 allocation.
Board members said the remaining balance — including principal and accrued interest — will not be finalized until closeout procedures are complete in mid-July; an estimate referenced by supervisors put the total across participating counties at roughly $30,000, with a possible per-county share near $8,000, though staff said exact figures were not yet known.
Supervisors discussed directing those funds either to county general assistance or to the local child abuse prevention council. Concerns were raised about whether the council maintains a bank account or checkbook to accept direct payments; supervisors asked staff to check with Lisa and other stakeholders and to coordinate with neighboring-county supervisors (Mitchell and Floyd) before making a final allocation decision in July.
The board also discussed administrator PTO payout timing tied to closeout and noted current money will be returned at the end of June to JCS and HHS as part of contract wind-downs. No final allocation decisions were made; supervisors planned additional meetings and a July follow-up to determine where the funds will be directed.
