The Hampton County Council returned from an executive session and said the council received legal advice related to the interim county administrator search, and that applications for the interim position are being accepted through June 30, the chair said.
The council’s chair told members, “In executive session, we had some legal advice dealing with the interim county administrative search update and … we’re still in the process of receiving applications and … that’s coming to an end at June 30,” attributing the timeline to the current hiring process. The remark followed a procedural motion to come out of executive session that was moved and seconded and approved by members raising their hands.
A later motion to adjourn the meeting was made and seconded; when the chair asked who had seconded it a speaker identified Councilman Jenkins. The chair then called for a show of hands, recorded no opposition or abstentions on the record, and declared the meeting adjourned.
The chair said the council will receive further updates on the interim administrator search after the application period closes. No additional details about the candidates, selection timeline beyond the June 30 application deadline, or any formal votes on an appointment were recorded during the session.
