Representatives of the Red Rock Cassidy Association asked Garfield County commissioners for $10,000 to complete a Butch Cassidy–themed musical they plan to debut this fall at Ebenezer's.
"Today we're asking for $10,000 to help us finish the show," said Amber Williams (S4), who identified herself as part of the Red Rock Cassidy Association. Presenters said proceeds and a planned allocation of $1 per ticket would fund future community arts and tourism projects.
Commissioners praised the project's tourism potential and suggested routing the funding request through the county's economic development board for review. Chair S1 and several commissioners said they preferred the board consider the request first and invited staff (S8/Caden) to schedule the presentation.
Presenters described local donor support and said some recording work was already completed in Nashville and locally; they also said the production will include local history vignettes drawn from area lore. No formal county appropriation was made at the meeting; commissioners directed staff to add the item to the appropriate economic development agenda for detailed consideration.
