Norton Public Library and local organizations announced a slate of community programs and events including family and youth activities, senior programming and special celebrations.
The library highlighted a family event featuring “Mr. Vinnie the Bubble Guy” on Friday, June 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Norton Library Park, with attendees asked to bring blankets or chairs and register at the door. The library also listed children’s and adult painting classes with instructor Sandy Churchill on Monday, June 20 (children’s class 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; adult class at 3:30 p.m.), and a calligraphy demonstration titled “Write Like a Rebel” with Debbie Wheel on Tuesday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Other offerings include a Teen Zone short magazine workshop on Tuesday, June 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.; an English language learners conversation circle on Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m.; a “Dogs love reading” drop-in program on Wednesday, July 1 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. where children and teens can read to a certified therapy dog; and a townwide Norton scavenger hunt kicking off Wednesday, July 1 with answers due August 3 and a prize drawing for completed teams.
The Nelson Senior Community Center (120 Mansfield Avenue) posted a schedule of Friday activities including walking group, strength and balance, yoga and bridge among other classes. Charlie United Methodist Church will host a 150th anniversary dinner with live music by Take 3 on Saturday, June 27 at 5:00 p.m.; tickets are $15 and reservations are available by phone.
