At its June 22 meeting the Minnetonka City Council approved several procurement and permit actions on unanimous roll-call votes.
Key outcomes:
- White Gate (Whitegate) Force Main Replacement (Project #25907): Council awarded the contract to GM Contracting for $512,836.57 and authorized the Deputy Public Works Director to expend funds up to the $800,000 project budget. Motion by Council member Wilberg; second by Council member Romali; vote: 6-0.
- Red Circle Drive Sidewalk Improvements (Project #23607): After the originally selected contractor withdrew, the council withdrew the prior award and re-awarded the contract to New Look Contracting for $359,869.50 and authorized the City Engineer to expend funds provided total project costs do not exceed $660,000. Motion by Council member Calvert; second by Council member Romali; vote: 6-0.
- Shady Oak Road Sidewalk Improvements (Project #26607): Council approved awarding the contract to New Look Contracting for $235,728 and authorized the City Engineer to expend funds provided total project costs do not exceed $465,000. Motion by Council member Maxwell; second by Council member Romali; vote: 6-0.
- Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) special assessment for 10650 Red Circle Drive: Approved on consent. Motion by Council member Wilburn; second by Council member Calvert; vote: 6-0.
- Marsh Roof Project (Project #26209): Council adopted a resolution ordering improvements, accepting plans/specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids; staff noted the proposed action is an insurance-driven replacement and that additional structural work (to accommodate solar, for example) would require additional funding and analysis. Motion by Council member Remely; second by Council member Coakley; vote: 6-0.
- Temporary on-sale liquor license for Boom Island Brewing (5959 Baker Road) for a free block party on July 11: Approved; applicant described live music and food vendors. Motion by Council member Romali; second by Council member Maxwell; vote: 6-0.
Council discussion on the sidewalk awards included comments noting higher costs from contractor withdrawal and the importance of continued communications with residents during construction. Staff said construction for awarded sidewalk projects will begin shortly and likely finish this summer, and that project websites and emailed updates will be used to inform neighbors.
Motion and vote details are recorded in the meeting minutes and the council packet.
