The LaSalle City Council handled multiple routine items in a single session, approving business sign permits, a request to extend fiber service, a special-event street closure and several administrative payouts by voice vote.
Council granted a petition from Stratus Network to extend fiber at 521 First Street, approved sign permits for Francis Ann Happ at 126 Industrial Drive and directional signs for 126 Industrial Drive and 325 Civic Road, and approved Stage 212’s request to replace an electronic wall-mounted message sign. The council also approved a special-event permit for Axe Church to close Tanta Street between Canal and First Streets for an Axe Kids Summer Party on June 28, 2026 (8 a.m.–noon). All those items were moved and approved by voice vote.
The council authorized pay request number one for Universal Asphalt and Excavating Inc., totaling $11,260.83 for work completed to date on the 2026 striping program; a roll call was taken and multiple aldermen recorded affirmative votes. Council also confirmed and ratified a tag day for the Illinois Valley Building Trades, noting the group had operated over Father’s Day weekend and the ratification simply confirmed authorization.
The meeting concluded with announcements about upcoming community events, including the city’s first National Night Out on Aug. 4 and routine department updates. The council approved bills totaling $889,859.65 and adjourned.
