Town staff reported complaints that Wedgwood Pines has continued to hold outdoor events and serve alcohol outside the premises described in its liquor license despite prior warnings to amend its special permit and liquor license application.
Staff recounted prior guidance given to the property last fall and said the venue had been advised to apply for an amended license or to seek a special‑event permit whenever outdoor activities are planned. The police, fire and building departments have documented multiple outdoor activities that do not match the licensed premises and raised public‑safety concerns.
Town counsel and staff will meet with Wedgwood Pines and pursue enforcement under the liquor‑license rules. The board instructed staff to schedule a formal liquor‑license violation hearing; a hearing date of July 15 at 6:00 p.m. was set so evidence and witnesses can be presented. The board noted that by law the licensee is entitled to a hearing and that town counsel will advise on next steps.
Select Board members said they did not want to delay enforcement while encouraging the venue to file any required amendments; staff will report back on evidence and proposed remedies at the hearing.
